Modiano
varies by retailer - Modiano's own site is brand/heritage focused, not a direct storefront
An Italian manufacturer based near Trieste, making cards since 1868 and playing cards specifically since the late 1800s. Modiano was actually the WSOP's official supplier in 2015, the year before Copag took over that role, and remains especially popular in Europe for a noticeably stiffer, thicker feel than Copag's cards - a real, distinct preference rather than a strictly better-or-worse difference.

Do I actually need plastic cards, or is paper fine?
Paper cards are fine for occasional games, but they wear out fast - creasing, marking, and getting hard to shuffle within a session or two of serious play. Plastic cards cost more upfront but last dramatically longer and hold up to the kind of repeated shuffling a real tournament puts them through.
What's the actual difference between KEM and the PVC brands?
KEM uses cellulose acetate, a genuinely different plastic from the PVC that Copag, Modiano, and Bicycle Prestige are made from. It tends to feel softer and more flexible in the hand, where PVC decks feel stiffer and snap more crisply. Neither is objectively better - it's a real preference, and worth trying both if you can.
Which of these is actually used at the WSOP?
Copag has been the World Series of Poker's exclusive official playing card since 2016. Modiano held that role before Copag, back in 2015. KEM and Bicycle Prestige aren't currently associated with the WSOP specifically, though KEM in particular is widely used across other casino poker rooms.
Poker size or bridge size - which should I get?
Poker size is wider and is what most home games default to. Bridge size is narrower, which some players find easier to hold a large hand of cards with (useful for games beyond poker) and is common in casino poker rooms specifically because it takes up less space at a crowded table.
How many decks do I actually need for a home game?
Two is the practical minimum - one in play while the other is being shuffled or held in reserve, which keeps the game moving and gives you a backup if a card gets damaged or lost mid-session.
